The Church We are Becoming
On Sunday, August 7 at 9am, after gathering in the Sanctuary for prayer and Holy Communion, our church dispersed into our community to serve for our inaugural “Church Without Walls” Sunday worship event. Six teams of worshipers served as the hands and feet of Jesus by visiting the sick and elderly, picking up litter, preparing care packages for women living at the Salvation Army, giving gifts and writing letters to the Police Department, and helping clean a church member’s house. Search for the hashtag #churchwithoutwallsweaver on facebook to view pictures and more details of what the Lord did through our church on this memorable Sunday.
This is the kind of community outreach we envision taking place through our church in the coming months and years ahead. During an upcoming worship series, The Garden: Our Vision for Growing Disciples, the vision team will share about some emerging strategies for fulfilling this vision. These strategies will include launching a skating ministry, a community garden and community meals, a Financial Peace University outreach ministry, adult book studies, and small discipleship groups. While there are many things we do not know about our future, we do know that the Lord has already equipped us with the the Holy Spirit to fulfill our vision of growing a garden of disciples. May we continue to be faithful as we plant, tend and harvest in God’s kingdom.
Your servant in Christ,
Matt Headley, Pastor
